Darmera peltata

Umbrella Plant. A large, clump-forming plant which slowly spreads by stout rhizomes, making it ideal for binding soil of a pond or stream margin. Round, lobed, and coarsely toothed leaves which can reach upto 60cm across turn to glowing, deep red shades in autumn. In May rounded heads of small, dark centred, pale pink flowers are borne on erect, hairy, reddish stalks.

Grow in moist to wet soil in sun or light shade although they will tolerate normal, fertile soil. They will reach a height of 90-150cm and a spread of 1m.
