Butternut Squash ‘Hungarian Orange Sonca’
Not a very well-known variety – bread and cultivated in Hungary. Its fruit star out green turning to a robust, bright orange with greenish brown streaks when fully ripe, the inside is flesh (pulp) is a darker orange than the normal butternut and much sweeter. Great for soups, entrees, sides dishes, desserts and more. Length approx. 8 to 10 inches long. Trailing type. Harvest the squash just before frosts, when the stems dry and turn brown. Plant 2-3’ apart.
