A deciduous (or sometimes semi-evergreen), perennial climber which has mid-green leaves. Single white flowers which are offset by large, domed bosses of deep purple stamens are borne from May to August.

Grow in fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil in sun, with the roots and base of the plant in shade. It will reach a height of 2.5m and a spread of 1.5m.
