Berberis thunbergii f. atropurpurea

A dense, rounded shrub which has obovate, dark red-purple leaves. Red-tinged pale yellow flowers are borne along the branches in mid-spring, they are followed by small red fruits in autumn.

Grows in almost any well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. It will reach an ultimate height of 1m and spread of 2.5m.
