Helleborus niger

Christmas Rose. Short, evergreen perennial which has deeply divided, dark green, leathery leaves. From January to March, flat, pure white, occasionally tinged pink flowers are borne.

Grows in moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil, will grow in heavy, neutral to alkaline soils in full sun or dappled shade. It will reach a height of 30cm and a spread of 50cm.
