Iris unguicularis

Algerian Iris. A vigorous, clump-forming, rhizomatous, evergreen perennial which has upright, dark grey-green leaves. In late winter and early spring, fragrant, veined, lavender to violet flowers with yellow-marked falls are borne.

Grow in well-drained, neutral to slightly alkaline soil in full sun. Best planted at the base of a sunny wall. Occasionally blooms again in autumn. It will reach a height of 20cm and a spread of 60cm.
