Panicum virgatum ‘Squaw’

Switch Grass. A narrowly upright, deciduous perennial which forms clumps of red-flushed, mid-green stems which bear upright, flat, linear, mid-green leaves to 60cm long. The leaves turn reddish-purple in autumn and light brown in winter. In early autumn, weeping panicles to 50cm long of tiny, pink-flushed spikelets are borne.

Grow in moderately fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. It will reach a height of 1m and a spread of 75cm.
