About Our Delivery Options
Many of our customers enjoy visiting Harley Nursery to browse our range of plants. For those who can’t visit us in person, we are pleased to offer UK delivery on selected plants, alongside our Click & Collect and Local Delivery service, allowing you to enjoy the same high-quality plants wherever you are in our UK delivery area. Our aim is to supply strong, healthy plants that will establish well and perform in your garden for years to come.
UK Plant Delivery
We can send many of our smaller plants by courier to addresses throughout mainland England, Wales and Scotland.
Plants ordered for delivery are selected from the same stock available to customers visiting the nursery. We do not grow smaller plants specifically for mail order, so the pot size, quality and price are the same whether you order online or visit us in person.
We usually dispatch orders on the Tuesday of each week, so plants should be received on Wednesday. We aim to send all orders on the next Tuesday after they are placed, but at busy times we may dispatch on the Wednesday, or have to hold orders for dispatch on the following Tuesday. We will send a confirmation email stating your delivery date and the postal service used. Should you have any special delivery instructions, please inform us when placing your order. Wherever possible, please state a safe place that parcels can be left if you are not in, as our courier cannot leave parcels without prior authorisation.
The delivery options available for your order will be shown at checkout.
UK Delivery Charges
UK courier delivery is available to our specified delivery areas within mainland England, Wales and Scotland. Most of our parcels are sent with Royal Mail, using their next day delivery service. Some orders may be sent via APC.
Scottish Highlands and Islands
If you live in the Scottish Highlands or Islands, please contact us before placing your order. We may still be able to deliver to your address, but additional courier charges will apply. We will be happy to provide a delivery quote based on your location and order.
Northern Ireland
Unfortunately, we are unable to send plants to any part of Ireland.
Please see the table below for our postage and packing charges. Our courier charges are based on the value of the plants being sent:
| Order value | Delivery |
|---|---|
| Up to £20.00 | £10.00 |
| £20.01–£50.00 | £12.00 |
| £50.01–£100.00 | £20.00 |
| £100.01–£175.00 | £30.00 |
| Over £175.00 | £45.00 |
Plants and products we cannot send by courier
Some of the plants and products we sell aren’t suitable for travelling through a parcel courier network.
These fall into three groups:
Heavy — Products such as bags of compost, grit and other items that are too heavy to send through our courier service.
Bulky or Tall — Trees and other plants that are too large or tall to pack safely for parcel delivery.
Delicate or Fragile — Plants such as Clematis and tomatoes that could easily be damaged in a parcel network. These plants can be transported safely in our own vehicles, but we don’t believe they can be adequately protected from damage when handled by a courier.
If your basket contains any of these products, UK courier delivery will not be available at checkout.
You can still choose Click & Collect, wherever you live. If your address is within our local delivery area, Harley Nursery Local Delivery will also remain available.
Local Delivery
We offer our own delivery service within approximately 20 miles of Harley Nursery.
Local delivery is available for plants and products that we cannot send by courier, including trees, larger plants, compost and delicate plants.
A delivery charge applies to local orders under £100.
Local delivery is FREE on orders of £100 or more.
The options available for your postcode will be displayed automatically at checkout.
Click & Collect
Click & Collect is free and available on all online orders, including trees, compost, larger plants and delicate plants. There is no minimum order value.

The Plants You Will Receive
Our plants are nursery grown and established in their pots, ready for planting on arrival. The pot size supplied is shown on each individual plant page. Many of our plants are grown here at Harley Nursery from seed or cuttings, while others are sourced from selected British growers.
We grow plants for long-term garden performance rather than simply for an instant display. Depending on the variety and time of year, plants may therefore have been trimmed or cut back before dispatch to encourage healthy growth.
Herbaceous perennials can look particularly different throughout the year. During autumn and winter, some varieties naturally die back completely and may arrive with little or no visible top growth. This is a normal part of their growing cycle.
How We Pack Your Plants
Every mail-order plant is selected and checked by our nursery team before being carefully packed for its journey.
We use recyclable cardboard boxes together with newspaper and cardboard to protect your plants during transit. This traditional packing method provides excellent protection while allowing the plants to breathe and reducing the need for plastic packaging.
To make the most efficient use of space and protect taller plants, some pots may travel on their side. A small amount of compost may become loose during transit, but this causes no harm. Simply return any loose compost to the pot and water the plant if necessary.
Plants may occasionally be trimmed where necessary to allow them to travel safely without affecting their long-term growth.
When your plants arrive
Please unpack your plants as soon as possible after delivery. Check the compost and water if necessary, then keep the plants outside in a sheltered position until you are ready to plant them.
If you have any concerns about your plants when they arrive, please contact us as soon as possible. Photographs are particularly helpful if you need to report any damage.
