Blackberries
Blackberries grow wild in the hedgerows of the UK, but the cultivated varieties are more productive, and include thornless varieties which make training and picking the fruit easier. From an established blackberry, depending on the cultivar and the size of the plant it is possible to expect a yield of 4.5-13.5kg a year.
Blackberries are best grown in full sun in a sheltered position although they tolerate partial shade as long as the soil doesn’t dry out. Blackberries like deep, well-drained, loamy soils which hold water in the summer.
Blackberries are available pre-packed from late-October to March. They are available in containers all year round.
