Carpinus

Hornbeam. A handsome, rounded tree with dark-green serrated leaves and a fluted, smooth grey trunk. Leaves turn yellow in autumn. An excellent plant for hedging. Deciduous.

Grow in well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. It will form a hedge of 90cm or more and once established it will have an average annual growth of 30-60cm.
