    Wayfaring Tree. A deciduous, multi-stemmed shrub with stout spreading branches. It has broadly ovate, finely toothed, grey-green leaves up to 12cm long. In summer, cream to white, arranged in dense clusters measuring up to 12 cm across are borne. Each small individual flower has a pleasant, though not strongly fragrant, aroma.

    Grow in moist, well-drained, loamy soils in full sun to partial shade. It can tolerate dry soils and is adaptable to various soil types, including alkaline soils. It will reach a height and spread of 3-4.5m.

    Guelder Rose. A vigorous, bushy, deciduous shrub which has maple-like dark green leaves which turn red in autumn. In May and June, heavily scented white flowers are borne which are followed by bright red ovoid berries in autumn.

    Grow in any moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. It will reach a height of 4m and once established will have an average annual growth of 30cm.
