Actaea simplex ‘Atropurpurea’
A stately perennial which has three-lobed, brownish-purple leaves. The upright purple-red stems may have two or three very short upright lateral branches. Slender, bottlebrush-like fragrant creamy-white flowers with a flush of purple are borne from September to October which are followed by attractive lime-green seedpods.
Grow in a cool position in dappled shaped with rich, deep, damp soil. Prefers an acid to neutral soil. It will reach a height of 165cm and a spread of 60cm.
