Japanese hornbeam. A slow growing, rounded tree which has doubly-toothed, oblong-lanceolate, taper-pointed, lush dark green leaves with prominent veining, which turn a fine golden-colour in autumn. Chinese lantern-shaped creamy-white bracts are borne in autumn which mature into brown fruiting catkins. Deciduous.
Grow in well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. It will reach a height of 10m and a spread of 6-7m.
