Leaf shapes range from triple-cut Frisée, Narrow, finely pinnate & dissected, often crisped or ruffled, for a frilly fluffy effect in a Salad (Endives), to large romaine-like wrappers, Broad, smooth, slightly ruffled leaf, for full-sized, well-hearted heads (Escaroles). Cold-tolerant, early spring sowing & summer harvest or late summer sow & autumn picking, can be cooked or used raw in salads (with varieties ‘Pancalieri’ & both ‘Scarlet Giant & Fine maraichere’) Plant 20-30cm apart.
