A upright, narrowly columnar, cormous perennial which has fans of erect, sword-shaped, dark grey-green leaves. In early summer, slender spikes of vivid magenta-pink, funnel-shaped flowers are borne.

Grow in well-drained, moderately fertile soil in full sun and is surprisingly hardy for its exotic look, coping well with UK winters, especially in sheltered spots. It will reach a height of 1.2m and a spread of 30cm.
