A tender, vigorous, deciduous climber which has hairy, red-brown shoots which have heart-shaped, red-tipped, mid-green leaves. Clusters of creamy-white flowers are borne in summer which are followed by oblong, bristly-skinned, green-brown fruit with edible, green flesh. Self Fertile
They are tolerant of any fertile, well-drained soil. They are sensitive to adverse weather conditions so they are best planted against a wall or fence in a sunny spot.
