Bastard Balm. A compact, clump-forming perennial with oval or egg-shaped deeply-veined leaves with scalloped edges. In late spring to early summer, small whorls of fragrant, tubular, deep velvety purple flowers with contrasting white markings are borne.
Grow in moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil in partial shade or a sheltered position. It will reach a height of 30-50cm and a spread of 30cm.
