This hardy, crunchy and slightly sweet winter cabbage is right at home in your Sunday roasts, stews and other warming favourites when the chilly weather blows in. As the name suggests, this is a purple-topped variety with a white base below soil level. It is a very popular variety with amateur growers producing good quality flattish roots. Turnips can be harvested from March to December, although early turnips are said to be best for flavour. Spacing between plants in the row: 10-15cm
