Description
Skimmia japonica subsp. reevesiana
A small, domed-shaped, evergreen shrub which is a hermaphrodite form. The narrowly elliptic, tapered leaves are dark green. It bears large, open panicles of red buds throughout winter which open in April and May to produce white flowers with yellow anthers, which are followed by ovoid red berries in autumn and winter.
Grow in moderately fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil in light dappled shade to deep shade. It will reach a height of up to 7m and a spread of 90cm.
