A more robust tree than S. aria with large creamy-white foliage in spring turning bright green, white underneath, then russet and gold in autumn. White flowers are borne in spring which are followed by crimson berries which appear in autumn. Deciduous.

Grow in moderately fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil in full sun or light shade. It will thrive in acid or alkaline soil. It will reach a height of 5m and a spread of 3m in 20 years.
