Rowan, Mountain Ash. A medium-sized deciduous tree with an upright, ascending habit, forming an oval-shaped crown. It has compound, pinnate leaves that are blue-green in colour, turning fiery shades of red and orange in autumn. In late spring to early summer, flat-topped clusters of small white flowers appear, measuring up to 12 cm across. These are followed by orangey-red berries in late summer.
Grow in moist, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. It can tolerate various soil types, including alkaline soils. It will reach a height of 10-12m and a spread of 4-5m.
