Old traditional hardy variety producing reliable, heavy yielding, strong growing, medium sized, good flavoured sprouts from early autumn into winter. Ideal for exposed locations, will over winter in snow. Removing the growing tip of the plant about a month before the harvesting increases cropping. Do not grow in the same area as where a member of the cabbage family grew in the previous year. Harvest from the ground up. Spacing, Row: 24-36 inches Spacing, Plant: 18-24 inches.

This top performing calabrese offers the longest cropping period from late May through to October, producing tasty, uniform blue-green domed heads. A quick-cropper, Ironman F1 shows good tolerance to hollow stem and resistance to bolting. Suitable for closer spacing for baby head production, or simply because growing space is tight. Pre. 1835. A gardener’s favourite for over 100 years for its reliable performance on most soils and heavy crops of delicious beans. Produces long pods containing an average of 6 to 8 beans per pod. This variety has an excellent flavour and is ideal for freezing. The beans have a lovely sweet flavour which is maintained even if frozen. Recommended by the RHS to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects. Height: 120cm (47″). Spread: 45cm (18″).

An improved Supremo Nano type, this dwarf Borlotto variety produces a heavy crop of colourful pink and white speckled pods with matching beans. Good vigour even in unfavourable conditions; early to mature and does well in containers. Once Borlotti Beans are cooked, they go a light-brown colour but the creamy texture makes for a homegrown delight particularly as fresh borlotti beans are almost impossible to buy fresh because they begin to harden after 7 days. The beans can be allowed to harden off and will store well for use later in an airtight container. Plant spacing 25 x 75cm. Harvest from July onwards.
