A deciduous climber which has large, rose-pink flowers, darker towards the centre, fading to pale violet at the edges, with cream stamens which appear in late spring to early summer and may be followed by a second flush in late summer.

Spicily fragrant, brownish purple flowers are borne in pendant racemes, to 12cm long in Spring, followed by fruit to 10cm long.
