Allium schoenoprasum. A Â bulbous perennial which forms a clump of erect narrowly cylindrical, onion-scented leaves. From July to August rounded umbels of light purple bell-shaped flowers are borne. Chives are grown to harvest the edible leaves, which enhance the flavour of many savoury dishes. The flowers are also edible.
Grow in full sun. It will reach a height of 50cm and a spread of 5cm.
