A deciduous climber with pinnate leaves divided into ovate or broadly lance-shaped, mid-green leaflets. Large, single, pale lilac-blue flowers are borne in early to midsummer, and again in early to mid-autumn.

Grow in fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil in sun, with the roots and base of the plant in shade. It will reach a height  of 1.2m and a spread of 75cm.
