Purple Coneflower. Slowly expanding crowns which carry roughly hairy, toothed leaves to 15cm. The basal leaves are egg-shaped. From July to October rigid stems carry flowerheads which are up to 12cm across. The ray florets are deep rose pink with an extra tuft of florets emerging from the top of the orange-brown cone.
