Witch Hazel. A vase-shaped, deciduous shrub or very small tree which has attractive leaves and good rich-red and orange autumn colour in October. Deep, rich red, scented, long-petalled flowers which have a slightly crumpled appearence are borne from January to March.
Grow in well-drained, fertile soil in full sun or light, dappled shade. Dislikes shallow, chalk soil and will not grow well in wet or waterlogged conditions. It will reach a height and spread of 3.5m.
