Malus florentina
Hawthorn-leaved crab apple. A small neat, round headed tree which has distinctive, lobed and toothed leaves with a woolly underside which turn vivid orange and scarlet in autumn. From mid to late spring, scented, pure white flowers are borne which are followed by small, egg-shaped, reddish-green crab apples on long stalks. Deciduous.
Grow in moderately fertile, moist, but well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. It will reach a height of 6m and a spread of 3m after 10 years.
