A compact, thicket-forming shrub which has peeling bark and arching branches which have golden yellow foliage. Small, cup-shaped, pink-tinged white flowers are borne in early summer which are followed by clusters of bladder-like red fruit with green flushes.

Grows best in acidic soil which is moist but well-drained in full sun or partial shade. It will reach a height of 2m and spread of 2.5m in 10 years.
