Rowan, Mountain Ash. An oval or round-headed tree with lance-shaped foliage which are dark green above, blue-green underneath, turning red or yellow in autumn. In late spring white flowers are borne which are followed by red berries in autumn. Deciduous.
Grow in moderately fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil in full sun or light shade. It will reach a height of 15m and a spread of 7m.

Blue Spruce. A columnar or conical tree which has densely growing, horizontal branches which have grey-green leaves. It has scaly grey bark on the trunk and the branches are yellowish-brown. The pale brown cones are up to 10cm long.

Common Beech. A large round-headed tree with pale-green, wavy edged leaves in spring turning a rich copper colour in autumn. Deciduous.
It is tolerant of a wide range of well-drained soils. It will form a hedge from 90cm tall or more and once established will have an average annual growth of 60cm.

Norway Maple. A vigorous, spreading tree with large five-lobed bright green leaves which turn clear yellow or even red in autumn. The clusters of attractive yellow flowers are borne on bare stems in Spring. Deciduous.
