A small tree with an elegant, spreading habit. which has pinnate leaves composed of numerous small, serrated leaflets arranged in pairs along the central stem, resembling a ladder. The foliage is a rich green which turns vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow in the autumn. From May to June, creamy white flowers are held in flat-topped clusters (corymbs) followed by small, orange-red to scarlet berries in the autumn, which persist into the early winter. Deciduous.

Grow in moderately fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil in full sun or light shade. It will reach a height of 4-8m and a spread of 3-5m.
