A medium to large apple which has a dull orange red flush and broken red stripes over dull green skin. Most of the surface is patched and mottled with moderately fine grey brown russet. The creamy white flesh is firm, fine-textured, a little juicy, and sweet, with a pleasant Blenheim-like flavour. It picks in mid-October and can be used from November to January. (European 18th Century). Flowering Group 4.

A medium sized apple which has greenish yellow skin which changes to dull yellow as it ripens, it is marked with broken streaks of pale red on the shaded side, but dull red changing to crimson on the exposed side, and generally russety over the base. The delicious, aromatic flesh is yellow, firm, crisp, rich, and sugary. Picks in October, at its best in November and December, but can store until March. (Ribston Hall, Yorkshire 18th Century).
