A medium sized apple with yellow or greenish yellow skin which is flushed, flecked, and striped pinkish-red, which is smooth and waxy, with slight russet in the stem basin which spreads out over the cheek. The greenish white flesh is sweet, astringent, and slightly crisp. The fruit is ripe in early November. (Somerset 19th Century) Flowering Group 5

A small to medium sized apple which has yellow green skin which is flushed, flecked, and slightly striped very dark red, almost black, which is dry, rather rough with russet spreading slightly to the cheek. The reddened flesh is bittersharp, mildly acidic with some astringency, rich and fruity. The fruit is ripe in early November. (Somerset 19th Century) Flowering Group 5

It is a firm, crisp, juicy, and sugary apple which has white flesh with a yellowish tinge. Picks in late August to early September. If cooked it will keep its shape and colour.
