The creamy white flesh is rather coarse textured, juicy, and sweet. Its season of use is November to January. (Kent 1966) Flowering Group 3

The flesh is similar in taste to Cox with its good balance of sugar and acidity, the taste is claimed to be similar to Parma violet sweets. Pick in mid-October. The flesh cooks to a cream, juicy puree which is brisk. When baked the flesh is creamy and frothy. Late in the season it makes a brisk dessert apple. It picks in mid-October and can be used from November to March. (Derbyshire 19th Century). Flowering Group 5.

The creamy white flesh is firm, fine-textured, a little juicy, and sweet, with a pleasant Blenheim-like flavour. It picks in mid-October and can be used from November to January.
