A medium sized apple which has greenish yellow, becoming rather dull golden yellow skin which is flushed orange-red, and has distinct broad crimson-red stripes. The creamy white flesh is rather coarse textured, juicy, and sweet. Its season of use is November to January. (Kent 1966) Flowering Group 3

The flesh is similar in taste to Cox with its good balance of sugar and acidity, the taste is claimed to be similar to Parma violet sweets. Pick in mid-October. The brisk, and finely textured, green tinged flesh cooks to a strongly flavoured pale yellow puree, hardly needing extra sugar. The flesh cooks to a cream, juicy puree which is brisk. When baked the flesh is creamy and frothy. Late in the season it makes a brisk dessert apple. It picks in mid-October and can be used from November to March. (Derbyshire 19th Century). Flowering Group 5.

A medium to large apple which has a dull orange red flush and broken red stripes over dull green skin. Most of the surface is patched and mottled with moderately fine grey brown russet. The creamy white flesh is firm, fine-textured, a little juicy, and sweet, with a pleasant Blenheim-like flavour. It picks in mid-October and can be used from November to January.
