This hardy, crunchy and slightly sweet winter cabbage is right at home in your Sunday roasts, stews and other warming favourites when the chilly weather blows in. The outer leaves of the heart are very eye-catching with red-purple tinge. Sweet crisp texture. Excellent source of pro-vitamin A and vitamin B & C. Crops from December to January. Very hardy.     This popular deep red compact variety is a heavy producer of tasty round 6-7 inch solid round heads. Vigorous plants are easy to grow, for late summer / early autumn harvesting. The colourful vitamin-rich heads are delicious cooked or raw in salads and coleslaw. Plant at 30-35cm spacings.

    It is a very old variety and is actually one of the easier varieties to grow and perfect for the novice gardener. Mid-sized fruits are grey-green in colour, sometimes stripy, sometimes not quite so pronounced. Inside the flesh is a rich orange colour and literally so juicy you may struggle to not dribble when eating! Recommended by the RHS to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects. Plant two to a growbag or one to a large pot. Fruits are ripe when they become ever so slightly yellow , the flesh around the stem becomes slightly soft and they smell strongly of melons.

    Produces dense, rich deep purple curds that are not only unusual but full of flavour. The heads reach a good size – about 16cm in diameter and they look stunning in the garden or on a dinner plate. Cauliflower Graffiti heads make unusual deep purple raw crudities – a talking point at the dinner table! The colour keeps better if the florets are steamed rather than boiled. It is usual to cover the heads of white cauliflowers with their own leaves to prevent the curds from yellowing with the sun but this purple one benefits from sunlight exposure making the curds a deeper purple.     A highly ornamental variety, the bright green leaves are often striped or speckled cream in colour – and pure cream-coloured leaves are also common. The tapered start of light green with darker stripes and mature to striped orange and finally striped red. The fruits can be used at any colour stage. With a lovely sweet flavour it is the heat that can be unpredictable – and in many ways they are just like the Padron Pepper with some fruits having very little heat whilst others (on the same plant) being quite fierce. Its a more than sensible idea to test each one as you add it to your cooking! Plants grows to about 2 foot and has a fairly compact habit.
