Bergenia cordifolia

Elephant’s Ears. A clump-forming perennial which has rounded to heart-shaped mid- to deep green leaves which are tinted purple in winter. In late winter and early spring it bears pale rose-red to dark pink flowers on red stems.

Grow in humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. They are tolerant of poor soil and exposure, this enhances their winter leaf colour. It will reach a height of 60cm and a spread of 75cm.
