An upright, clump-forming perennial which has lance-shaped, pointed, toothed, aromatic, green leaves. From July to September erect stems bearing dense, whorled clusters of two-lipped, tubular, rich violet-purple flowers are borne.
Grow in moderately fertile, humus rich, moist but well drained soil in full sun or light dappled shade. It will reach a height of 90cm and a spread of 45cm.
