Japanese Anemone. A vigorous, erect, woody-based perennial which has spreading, suckering shoots, and oval, palmate, mid-green leaves. From August to October it bears single white flowers which are pink-tinged on the reverse, with golden yellow stamens.
Grow in moist, fertile, humus-rich soil in sun or partial shade. They won’t tolerate excessive winter wet. It will reach a height of 1.2-1.5m and will spread indefinitely.

Bear’s Breeches. A clump-forming perennial which has glossy, ornate, dark green leaves. In summer the purple-tinted stems bear 1m long racemes of white- or pink-veined flowers which have green-purple bracts.

Purple Coneflower. Slowly expanding crowns which carry roughly hairy, toothed leaves to 15cm. The basal leaves are egg-shaped. From July to October rigid stems carry flowerheads which are up to 12cm across. The ray florets are deep reddish-pink with an orange-brown cone.
Grow in deep, humus-rich, well-drained soil in full sun. It will reach a height of 100cm and a spread of 45cm.
