£3.00An early variety of Kohl Rabi with blue stems, making it look like something out of this world. It is intended for spring and autumn growing. This variety has a good bolt resistance. Kohl Rabi is a member of the brassica family. With the stem just above ground level, it swells to form the crisp, juicy vegetable, with a texture similar to that of a Water Chestnut. Its flavour is much like that of a turnip but milder.Makes a pleasant change as a vegetable, slice and fry gently in olive oil or use in place of turnips. Roots must be used young, between golf and tennis ball size. Space 30cm apart.

£3.00This White Heirloom variety is an easy to grow and versatile vegetable often overlooked for the home garden. Its bulb-like growth develops aboveground, has a distinctive nut-like flavour and tender flesh, which can be cooked, stir-fried or used in salads and dips. This variety has a white skin and flesh and is excellent fresh or stir-fried. Best harvested at 3-4 Inches in diameter. Row spacing 18 inches. Plants grow 9 – 12″ tall.

One of those reliable old favourite varieties that Grandad grew to produce an excellent crop of tasty, thick, short solid white stems with broad dark flags through the winter (Oct- Mar). also if Harvested young, as baby leeks, these have a fantastically sweet flavour which doesn’t falter if they are left to mature. Possible Lettuce types: Butterheads: flattish, rounded heads, soft texture, heart forming, can be grown nearly all year-round. Cos/Romaine: Tall and upright, sweet flavour, loose heart forming. Both large and small types. Crisp/Iceberg/Batavian: crisp leaves, compact hearts. Iceberg: very crisp leaves. Batavian: thinner leaves than Icebergs, but thicker and crispier leaves than Butterheads. As its name suggests it looks great and is well suited to growing in a container; it is easy & quick to grow. £3.00Very similar to Mizuna but the leaves have a milder mustard flavour & are strap like with rounded ends. Very quick & easy to grow. It’s young leaves are great for baby-leaf production & used raw in mixed salads or left to grow on for larger leaves that are good for adding to stir-fries in the last minute of cooking. Mibuna will bolt if the leaves are not regularly picked and needs to be well watered in dry periods. Plant 10cm apart for ‘cut & come again’ cropping or 25cm apart for larger plants.

£3.00Mizuna is a quick growing oriental leaf that has a sweet, mild mustardy taste that gets stronger as the wide serrated (similar to rocket) leaves mature. The baby-leaves can be used raw in salads or the larger leaves can be added last minute to stir-fries. Mizuna is quick & easy to crop, slow to bolt and can be cropped through winter with added protection either with a cloche or in greenhouse, but it does not like it too wet or cold. Plant at 20cm spacing.

The Onion was named after a small unusual shaped island off the coast in the firth of Clyde. – Nice-flavoured variety; large, solid, with small neck. It offers excellent keeping qualities.
