The flesh is pale yellow, fine textured, juicy, and a little sweet, with a pleasant aromatic flavour. Pick in October and can be used from November to March. (Herefordshire 1862). Flowering Group 2.

The yellow flesh is orange underneath the skin and tinged green around the core. It is firm, fine-textured, rather dry, and sweet, with a rich aromatic flavour. Its season of use is from November to March. (Cornwall 1800). Flowering Group 4.

A medium sized apple which has a bright green skin which turns clear yellow with russety dots as it reaches maturity, the exposed side is flushed orange-red. The yellow flesh has a rich, fruity, strong pineapple-like acidity which mellows to become sweet. Picks in October and can be used from December to May. It is called the ‘Wise Apple’ on account that it is the last apple to come into flower so avoids the frost. (France 1613). Flowering Group 5

Over the coloured part are patches of ash grey russet which forms a smooth and firm crust. The flesh is yellowish and has a crisp, juicy, sweet, and aromatic flavour.
