A medium sized apple which has greenish yellow, becoming rather dull golden yellow skin which is flushed orange-red, and has distinct broad crimson-red stripes. The creamy white flesh is rather coarse textured, juicy, and sweet. Its season of use is November to January. (Kent 1966) Flowering Group 3

A medium to large apple which has a dull orange red flush and broken red stripes over dull green skin. Most of the surface is patched and mottled with moderately fine grey brown russet. The creamy white flesh is firm, fine-textured, a little juicy, and sweet, with a pleasant Blenheim-like flavour. It picks in mid-October and can be used from November to January. (European 18th Century). Flowering Group 4.

This is a ‘foundling’ apple of exceptional, high quality flavour which is being called the new garden Cox, but unlike this classic apple Christmas Pippin can be planted nationwide and will produce reliable heavy crops.
