A medium sized apple which has pale yellow skin on the shaded side but deeper yellow with an orange or bluish tinge on the exposed side. The flesh is pale yellowish white, tender, very juicy, and soft, with a brisk and pleasant flavour. Its season of use is from June to September. (Lancashire 18th Century) Flowering Group 1.

A medium-sized apple which has a deep pinky crimson flush and some darker stripes over pale yellow skin. The flesh is similar in taste to Cox with its good balance of sugar and acidity, the taste is claimed to be similar to Parma violet sweets. Pick in mid-October. A small to medium sized apple which has yellow green skin which is flushed, flecked, and slightly striped very dark red, almost black, which is dry, rather rough with russet spreading slightly to the cheek. The flesh cooks to a cream, juicy puree which is brisk. When baked the flesh is creamy and frothy. Late in the season it makes a brisk dessert apple. A medium to large apple which has a dull orange red flush and broken red stripes over dull green skin. Most of the surface is patched and mottled with moderately fine grey brown russet. The creamy white flesh is firm, fine-textured, a little juicy, and sweet, with a pleasant Blenheim-like flavour. It picks in mid-October and can be used from November to January.
